I wanted to have a better view of my nozzle while printing and wasn't satisfied with the available fan ducts, so I designed my own. After few iterations, im fine with the design.
The air flow geometry is optimized with a smooth air channel and the weight is reduced.
Other models i looked before had a weight of around 21g PETG, which is the same like the original fan duct.
I stripped it to a weight of less than 11g PETG !!!!
Simply disassemble the print head cover and remove the two screws, replace the fan duct and fit the two screws → be happy.
I recommend to do a new vibration compensation, because it has a 10g reduced weight.
I printed it with white PETG so that the print isn't affected by dark material and some light might be reflected. I used a brim and tree supports inside the cooling channel and under the one screw lid. I changed the settings in the next slicer, that the support will only one perimeter. Before there were two and that makes it not easy to get the supports out.
I tested the cooling with a test model with the original fan duct and with my own design, the improvement was not that big.
If you can do an airflow simulation, it would be great if you could share a comparison of the available fan ducts with mine so I can further improve the design.
Would be happy to see your makes!!!
