Cha cha is a traditional Cantonese folk custom centered around tea consumption. It also represents a social dining practice deeply rooted in Han Chinese culture. Over the years, this custom has become prevalent in southern Chinese cities such as Guangdong, Jiangsu, and Zhejiang.
Cantonese people typically enjoy tea three times a day—morning, noon, and evening—but morning tea is the most highly regarded, and the tradition of sipping morning tea has taken root more strongly than elsewhere. Since morning tea is often accompanied by light snacks, locals refer to the ritual of drinking morning tea as “eating morning tea.”
