Based on the black-skinned baby squishy toy purchased by the Chaoshan blogger “Uncle Cai” to ease his family’s pressure to get married, he jokingly refers to it as his “Sino-African mixed-race daughter” and named her Natasha (a homophone in the Chaoshan dialect for “trash can,” symbolizing her ability to absorb all stress). This hand puppet has been adapted into a popular series of daily parenting videos.
