I love my modded Les Paul that I made with RetroCultMods' excellent DIY kit, however I did feel like the mechanical key switches had a bit more travel than I wanted, and during slides my fingers would occasionally get caught in the frame of the guitar because the buttons went down pretty far and would rock left and right as I moved my fingers across. Overall, functionally a huge improvement over the stock rubber buttons, but it came with some tradeoffs. I designed this button gasket to eliminate those tradeoffs. Designed for TPU filament, the gasket will pop directly on your RCM fretboard and be flush with the board (assuming you assembled it correctly). The Wii Les Paul is praised for having shorter travel distance on its frets than the PS3 version, which comes down to a slightly different silicone formula being used during their production run, and that was my main clue for how I could improve my modded PS3 Les Paul.

Here is a list of benefits to installing this gasket on your modded guitar:

• 2mm shorter travel distance
• Faster button presses and releases in game
• Your fingers will never get caught on button well edges
• Slides will be faster and smoother since there is less height difference between pressed and unpressed fret buttons
• Button presses will be partially dampened by the TPU material, slightly reducing noise and stress on your fingers
• Buttons will never slam against the actual key switches, potentially reducing wear and tear
• Buttons will no longer rock or creak when pressed down, making the controller have a more solid feel while relieving stress on the PCB

Overall I highly recommend printing this if you're using the RCM mechanical key fretboard. If you have not printed TPU before I recommend watching some Youtube videos first. If you are using a bowden tube setup, the most important thing is going to be to print very slowly so that the material doesn't kink up in the gears. The design will probably also work fine in the Guitar Hero 1 / 2 Gibson SG controller, although I have not tested it yet.
