ASR PRO Voice Control Box

 

I. Inspiration

Based on the ASR PRO offline voice recognition module, we developed a portable voice control device. Drawing inspiration from the standard dimensions of conventional hard cigarette packs, we designed a compact housing to enable local, offline voice interaction without requiring an internet connection. This creates a convenient, pocket-sized voice‑enabled terminal suitable for DIY embedded projects and small smart desktop devices.

II. Structural Design

The overall casing adopts a square, rounded-corner flip-top design, with dimensions aligned to standard thick‑cigarette packs for easy handheld storage. It supports 3D printing fabrication.

  1. Casing: A two-piece flip‑top structure with screw posts at each corner for secure lid attachment; the top surface features an array of sound‑emitting holes and a built-in speaker mounting area.

  2. Actuator: A miniature servo motor is integrated into the side of the housing, with an external lever arm that moves in response to voice commands.

  3. Internal Layout: The interior is divided into distinct zones, housing the ASR PRO voice processing board, lithium battery, and speaker, with components arranged separately to avoid interference.

  4. The rear cover includes a cutout for switches and charging ports, with ample space reserved for wiring.

III. Functions and Application Scenarios

Core Functions

  1. Offline Voice Recognition: No Wi‑Fi required—pre‑program wake words and multiple control commands allow local voice recognition upon power-up.

  2. Servo‑Driven Actions: Upon recognizing a corresponding voice command, the side-mounted servo rotates its lever arm, performing mechanical actions such as toggling or unlocking mechanisms.

  3. Portable Power Supply: A built-in lithium battery paired with a charging circuit enables long‑term operation away from mains power.

  4. Audio Feedback: Equipped with a speaker, it plays prompt tones or voice announcements upon successful or failed recognition.
