The lightest weight plates typically found in gyms are 2.5 kg, which can be a significant gap for those following linear progression plans or aiming for incremental, fine‑tuned weight gains. Adding just 2.5 kg can lead to compromised form, while skipping that increment leaves you unable to challenge your muscles with sufficient load.

To address this issue, I designed the “Home Dumbbell Weight Plate to Barbell Adapter”.

Design Intent:
Thanks to a set of modular dumbbells at home—complete with multiple 1.25 kg and 0.5 kg plates—I realized: if I can’t add heavier plates at the gym, why not bring my lighter plates along? This adapter securely fastens home dumbbell weight plates onto a standard Olympic barbell, enabling precise weight adjustments down to 1.25 kg—or even 0.25 kg.

2. Dual Locking Mechanism: One end locks tightly onto the barbell shaft, while the other features a specially designed groove for added stability.
3. Sturdy and Safe: Printed with a 3‑layer wall structure (PETG is highly recommended).
4. Wide Compatibility: The inner bore is sized at 50 mm—standard for Olympic bars. The outer clip slots accommodate the smaller‑diameter weight plates commonly used on most modular dumbbells; two different designs are available, with the second option offering higher strength and greater durability when used without a locking mechanism.
