  • Fusible deposition modeling (FDM) is a 3D printing technology that involves heating and melting thermoplastic filaments, which are then extruded through a nozzle to build objects layer by layer. This method is widely used due to its simplicity and cost-effectiveness. In contrast, stereolithography (SLA) employs a laser to cure liquid photopolymer resin, forming solid layers. Selective laser sintering (SLS) uses a laser to fuse powdered material particles, creating parts with high strength and precision. Other key factors in 3D printing include layer height, print speed, support structures, infill density, nozzle diameter, bed temperature, and various other technical parameters.

This traditional‑style handheld lantern is fully 3D‑printed and compatible with electronic candle lights as its light source, ensuring safety by eliminating open flames.

1. Handle Structure: A modular, extendable design featuring a main pole paired with an extension sleeve; users can insert additional rods to adjust the height to suit their stature. The handle’s tip is crafted in a three‑dimensional dragon‑head shape and includes a built‑in loop for attaching a hanging cord, allowing the lantern to be suspended easily.

2. Lantern Shade Structure: A square, soft‑light diffuser with a gently translucent interior; the bottom features a recessed circular mounting hole that fits standard electronic candle lights, enabling the lamp to nest securely without wobbling and providing even, diffused illumination.

3. Assembly Process: Simply connect the extension rod, hang the shade using the included cord, and insert the electronic candle light into the base—three straightforward steps. With its minimalist Chinese‑style aesthetic, this lantern is ideal for nighttime strolls, set‑design accents, or festive handheld decorations.

Printing Tips:

Recommended Filaments: PLA or PETG; for the shade, consider using a semi‑translucent filament to enhance the soft‑light effect. For the dragon‑head detail, we recommend adding tree‑like supports during printing to preserve fine three‑dimensional features. We also suggest using white silk filament or other white‑colored filaments for this part.
