This “Ailekoo Yacht” is a lightweight design experiment I undertook while creating a pool‑side water‑play model.
During the conceptual phase, I aimed to go beyond a static hull model and craft a small toy that could truly “come to life.” To minimize hydrodynamic drag and ensure stable buoyancy, I opted for a streamlined, minimalist hull shape. At the stern, I deliberately left space for a rubber‑band‑powered propeller mechanism, allowing users to generate propulsion simply by winding the band—offering an affordable yet engaging way to enjoy the water.
In terms of materials and structure, I carefully balanced weight distribution to keep the boat stable in the pool and prevent capsizing. At the same time, I prioritized 3D‑printing feasibility, avoiding overly complex assembly so that users can assemble and customize it with ease.
More than just a toy, it functions as an experimental aquatic platform—perfect for parent–child interaction or for makers to test and modify various propulsion systems. My goal was not merely to provide a fun play experience, but to foster a complete creative journey from design to launch, turning every dip into a mini‑invention‑and‑validation session.
