Slot‑Type In‑Car Wire Harness Holder

To address the issues of messy wiring and the tendency of traditional adhesive cable organizers to fall off after retrofitting equipment in older vehicles, I designed a “slot‑type in‑car wire harness holder.” This solution leverages existing gaps in the vehicle’s interior for glue‑free installation—no drilling required and no damage to the trim—enabling quick and secure routing of common in‑car cables such as dashcams, power cords, ambient lighting wires, USB charging cables, and more.

This project features two structural designs:

• Barb‑Insertion Holder
  Utilizes an elastic barb mechanism that locks into the gap, providing stable, anti‑detachment performance and ideal for long‑term, concealed cable management.
• Hook‑Style Holder
  Adopts an open‑hook design for easy, rapid attachment and removal of cables, making it well suited for scenarios involving frequent disassembly or temporary cable tidying.

The design prioritizes real‑world automotive needs:

• Glue‑free installation with resistance to high‑temperature degradation
• Compact, hidden form factor that preserves the vehicle’s aesthetic appeal
• Shock‑resistant and vibration‑proof to handle driving dynamics
• 3D‑printed without supports, lowering the barrier to fabrication
• Parametric adaptability to accommodate varying gap widths and cable diameters

By offering a simple, easily printable, and user‑friendly small‑scale solution, this work aims to tackle the often overlooked yet highly frequent challenge of managing in‑car wiring, helping to create a cleaner, safer, and more organized cabin environment.
