This work depicts the Henan Opera classic “Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai.” Within the diverse landscape of culture and the arts, Henan Opera holds a significant and distinctive place. Choosing elements from Henan Opera for this creation represents a meaningful and valuable artistic exploration, driven by rich intentions and a far-reaching vision. As a representative opera genre of Henan Province, Henan Opera boasts a profound historical and cultural heritage. Originating in the mid-to-late Ming Dynasty, it has continuously evolved and flourished under the nurturing influence of the Central Plains region. Its vocal style is rich and varied, and its performance combines singing, speaking, acting, and martial arts, seamlessly integrating elements of martial arts, dance, and other art forms to vividly portray the everyday lives and spiritual ethos of the people of the Central Plains. By selecting Henan Opera elements for this project, we are first and foremost drawn to its deep historical roots and unique artistic appeal, with the hope of preserving and promoting this outstanding traditional culture through new creative works. This piece centers on Henan Opera elements, aiming to create a work that is both innovative and culturally resonant, while also serving as a vehicle for cultural transmission.
