As 3D printing enthusiasts, we deal with “waste” generated during the printing process every single day. These seemingly useless “scraps” actually hold tremendous potential for creative repurposing!

So I started wondering: Could we design a “weapon” that not only breathes new life into waste materials but also delivers an engaging, fun experience?

And that’s how the Waste Grenade was born! It truly “explodes”—but instead of conventional explosives, it launches 3D-printed waste as flying fragments!

✅ Eco-Friendly Core: By using waste materials in place of traditional fillers, this design is far more sustainable.

✅ Zero-Cost Consumables: No need to purchase additional filler materials—simply repurpose your 3D-printed waste and turn it into something valuable.

✅ Playful Interaction: Whether you’re tossing it, colliding it with objects, or exploring creative ways to use it—there’s no shortage of fun to be had…!

Just imagine: Piles of waste that once belonged in the trash can now become your very own “secret weapon”! With the Waste Grenade, every single gram of waste is transformed into a source of unexpected delight!

Come join me and let’s unlock the limitless possibilities hidden within waste materials!

The Science Behind the Waste Grenade’s “Explosion”: When you throw the grenade, the impact against the ground or a wall generates vibrations that loosen the small claws, causing them to disengage from the hooks on the grenade’s outer shell. Under the force of two torsion springs, the outer shell is propelled outward, flinging the waste material far and wide.

Below is a step‑by‑step assembly guide—and we recommend using PETG filament for printing.

1. Start by printing all the components. You’ll need three torsion springs, three BT3*8 self-tapping screws, one 17mm filament spool, and six 20mm filament spools.

2. Use three 20mm-long filament spools to assemble the central support pillar with the three outer shells, creating a hinged structure.

3. Take the three baffles, three torsion springs, and three filament spools, and assemble them into a linked structure.

4. Place the pillar equipped with small claws in the center position.

5. Align the top piece with the three positioning pillars, secure it in place, then tighten the screws.

6. Attach the safety lever and connect it to a 17mm filament spool to form a hinged mechanism.

7. Grip the three baffles, flip the grenade upside down, and close the outer shell.

8. Secure the safety lever and insert the pin safety.

9. Load waste materials through the three holes at the base of the grenade.

10. Remove the pin safety, grip the safety lever—and rest assured: the grenade won’t “explode” until you throw it. Once you release it into the air, the internal waste will “explode,” scattering into countless fragments!
