N20 Gear-Driven Smart Car

 

  1. Structural Design The entire vehicle’s exterior, wheels, and bevel gears were independently modeled and fabricated using 3D printing. An N20 geared motor was selected as the power source. Assembly components were meticulously planned: two M3 fine-thread screws and eight M2.3 self-tapping screws were used to secure the housing. A dedicated mounting slot for an OLED display was预留 at the rear, while the housing lid features an engraved custom logo. Internally, a bevel-gear-based reversing transmission system is employed, with well-designed internal limiting structures that ensure easy disassembly and reassembly.

     

  2. Operating Principle The N20 motor drives the driving bevel gear, which changes the direction of motion via a pair of bevel gears. Power is transmitted through a drive shaft to rotate both wheels. An external microcontroller controls the motor’s start and stop functions, while an OLED screen displays operational status and speed parameters. Powered by the motor, the car moves forward smoothly, with stable gear engagement and minimal power loss.

  3. Project Value This project provides hands-on experience across the full workflow—from 3D modeling and 3D printing to component assembly and hardware wiring—while deepening understanding of bevel-gear transmission principles. Participants also learn how to operate the N20 motor and use the OLED display. With the option to upgrade to Bluetooth remote-control functionality, this project serves as both a practical case study for mechanical transmission and a maker‑oriented learning tool, enhancing skills in structural design and embedded programming.
