Design Concept

The design is inspired by traditional fruit fly traps with a modern twist, utilizing common household materials like a soda bottle. The structure resembles a small hut to prevent rainwater from entering the trap while allowing flies to get caught inside easily.

Purpose

This fruit fly trap is intended for use in orchards and gardens to manage and reduce fruit fly populations effectively without the use of harmful chemicals.

Printing Recommendations

Print the green collar and the white roof separately in PLA or PETG. The collar should be fitted securely on a standard 65mm soda bottle top. Use supports for the small hooks on top of the roof to ensure a neat fit.

Assembly Instructions

After printing, simply fit the green ring onto the mouth of an empty soda bottle filled with attracting solution. Attach the white roof on top by inserting it into the ring’s placeholders. The trap is ready to use in strategic locations in your orchard or garden.
