Source of Inspiration

A primary school student wanted a butterfly knife to play with. After searching online, they found that the more aesthetically pleasing models were typically assembled from separate printed parts, often requiring additional metal connectors—quite a hassle. The ones printed as a single piece looked rather unattractive and many were unreliable.

So, I decided to design one myself: a sleek, all-in-one design that could be printed in one go and used straight away, offering a satisfying feel when swung.

Introduction:
1. All-in-one printing—no assembly required.

2. Handle length: 110 mm.

Printing Requirements:

——————Please do not print the parts separately; separate prints cannot be assembled.

Be sure to maintain the original relative positioning of each component; otherwise, the mechanism will fail to open and close properly.————————

1. Material: PLA—extremely easy to print.

2. Support structures needed: No.

3. Additional components beyond standard 3D-printed parts required: No.

4. Assembly required: No.

5. A 30% infill density has been set to enhance blade strength (since blades are printed along the Z-axis, which tends to be weaker—a common limitation in 3D printing).

5. Be sure to completely remove the brim before folding; initial folds may feel slightly stiff, but after about ten folds, it will operate very smoothly.

6. Brims have been added to both ends and the blade—do not delete them, as they help prevent warping on the edges.
