Servo Gripper – Streamlined Version

I. Design Inspiration
This design streamlines and optimizes the traditional gear-driven gripper by eliminating unnecessary wall thicknesses and auxiliary structures, while retaining the core dual-gear synchronous meshing mechanism. It is compatible with the SG90 micro servo, emphasizing lightweight construction and compact size—ideal for use in miniature robotic arms and small-space applications.

II. 3D Printing Process
The frame and gripper body are printed using PLA filament, while the gears are made from PETG to enhance wear resistance. A standard 0.3 mm assembly clearance is maintained between mating gears, and overall wall thicknesses have been optimized to minimize material waste. With no large overhanging surfaces or extensive support structures required, printing is faster and consumes less filament.
III. Structure and Function
The integrated frame incorporates a dedicated mounting compartment for the servo, significantly simplifying assembly. Dual gears ensure synchronized opening and closing of both gripper jaws, while a hollowed-out design reduces weight without compromising gripping rigidity. Standard square holes on the sides allow direct attachment to robotic arm shafts, enabling quick, compact, and practical disassembly and reassembly.
