I. Rationale for Creation

When it comes to dreamy modes of transportation, Doraemon’s time machine is undoubtedly among the top choices. It carries the hopes and aspirations we had for the future as children, as well as the nostalgic memories of our childhood as adults.

II. Project Overview

Design: The model faithfully replicates the original design of the time machine from the series.

Functionality: A magnetic levitation kit is used to achieve levitation.

Printing Validation: Successfully completed FDM printing tests; the model structure is well-designed, requiring no complex supports, and has been verified to print successfully.

III. Printing and Assembly Instructions

1. Printing Configuration: Two versions are available—magnetic levitation and non-levitating. Users can select the appropriate configuration file based on their needs.

2. Required Components: The magnetic levitation version requires additional parts; I purchased this specific set, which includes a base that is compatible with the model.

3. Assembly Instructions: The model has been disassembled into individual parts, allowing for color-separated printing without the need for AMS. Pre-cut slots have been provided for each component, so simply align and snap them into place as shown in the accompanying images. Note that the small balls on several rocker arms may be difficult to install properly; lightly sanding the rods will ensure a successful fit.

Installation of components for the magnetic levitation version is illustrated in the figure below.

Final assembled appearance

Simply align the parts correctly and press them into place. If you no longer wish to use the magnetic levitation module, you can easily disassemble it and reuse the components.

After powering on, gently support the time machine while positioning it, then release once you’ve found the balance—it’s surprisingly easy to do.
