As a devoted fan of “Dragon Ball,” I’ve always wanted to capture the passion and joy that have accompanied my growth and preserve them as a little corner on my desk. And Master Roshi—the seemingly unserious yet profoundly enigmatic martial arts grandmaster—is the very first character that comes to mind. He’s not only Goku and Krillin’s mentor but also the embodiment of humor and wisdom throughout the entire series.

So instead of creating a conventional figure, I decided to make his iconic “skin” functional. I transformed his striking yellow gi into a pen holder. In the design, I deliberately adopted rounded, chibi-style lines to give it a warmer, more endearing look. As for the “龟” character on the front, I spent a long time fine-tuning it—striving for clarity and legibility while still retaining a touch of handwritten, rustic charm, as if Master Roshi himself had stamped it there. That bold black opening line is the “soul” of the entire design; without it, the garment would lose its spirit.

The “belly” of the piece is surprisingly spacious, easily accommodating five or six commonly used pens. My favorite moment is when I slip in a few colorful markers—suddenly, the otherwise serious martial arts uniform seems filled with childlike “weapons,” creating a delightful sense of humor, like Master Roshi suddenly pulling out a bunch of quirky tools.

I hope that everyone who sees and uses this piece will not only find it convenient for organizing their stationery but also smile knowingly, recalling the mischievous old master who loves to dance the “haha-haha” dance—and the deep warmth and inner strength hidden behind his absurd antics. This isn’t just a pen holder; it’s a little time capsule on your desk, sealing away a passionate and joyful memory.
