- This is a model of the Chinese Rocket Force’s Dongfeng‑41 intercontinental ballistic missile. In marching configuration, the model measures 247 mm in length, 58 mm in height, and 63 mm in width; in launch configuration, it measures 265 mm in length, 247 mm in height, and 63 mm in width. Since I don’t know the actual dimensions of the real vehicle, I’m also unsure of its exact scale.
- The entire vehicle is built without using any metal hardware. The window panes require glue for attachment, though you can choose not to print or install them—this won’t significantly affect the overall appearance.
- The window panes were printed using PLA filament, then lightly sanded and coated with a clear varnish, resulting in a slight reflective finish.
- The body is printed as a single piece, while the launch tubes are printed in two sections. The wheels are split into separate tire and hub components; if you have a multi‑color printing system or don’t mind the hub color, you can combine these two parts into one print job.
- As I didn’t have TPU filament on hand, I used PLA for the tires instead. Although the visual difference isn’t significant, TPU is still recommended.
- Recommended assembly sequence:
  1. Attach the upper and lower support rods.
  2. Secure the support rods to the vehicle body.
  3. Assemble the launch tubes. Both sections and the connecting ring feature alignment slots—ensure proper alignment when joining. If the connection feels loose, apply a small amount of glue. The top cover attaches to the upper section via threaded joints.
  4. Mount the launch tubes onto the vehicle body.
  5. Connect the support rods to the launch tubes.
  6. Assemble the wheel hubs, tires, and axles—totaling 16 sets.
  7. Install all 16 wheel assemblies onto the vehicle body.
  8. Attach the window panes.
- In the image below, the five pivot shafts lack dedicated part models. Instead, use 1.75 mm diameter filament directly, leaving about 1 mm at each end. Carefully flatten the ends with a soldering iron or other heating tool, and make minor adjustments if necessary.

Lightly sand the edges to prevent scratching during folding.
- When assembling the wheels, pay attention to orientation: the curved side of the tire should face outward, while the flat side that rests against the print bed faces inward. The gap between the hub and tire is intentionally narrow to ensure a secure fit without glue—press firmly to lock everything in place. During printing, the axle may develop burrs or uneven surfaces; initial installation into the hub might feel stiff, but this will improve after a short break-in period. You can also apply a drop of lubricant to the axle for smoother operation.
