Product Introduction:

This 3D-printed aquascape is inspired by the ancient marine predators—the ammonites and nautiluses. The model features a perfect golden spiral form, with a solid, robust shell on one side and a delicately hollowed-out chamber on the other. It is not only a work of art that combines geometric aesthetics with a retro-futuristic vibe, but also a “deep-sea rotating maze” designed for fish and shrimp, offering unparalleled security and endless exploration fun.

Design Highlights:

  1. Spiral Descending Maze Channels: The unique spiral structure creates a visually deep and intricately interwoven internal network. Fish and shrimp can follow the curved inner walls as they spiral downward, eventually reaching the most secluded core space—this design greatly stimulates their curiosity and urge to explore.
  2. 360-Degree All-Around Shelter: Compared with traditional single-sided hiding structures, this hemispherical/spiral design provides comprehensive, dead-zone-free coverage. Whether fish or shrimp approach from above or swim in from the side, they can quickly find a snug recess to hide in.
  3. Dual Ecological Micro-Landschafts Inside and Out:
    • Exterior Surface: Retains a fossil-like rough texture and irregular protrusions, providing ample attachment area for sedentary microorganisms and algae. Over time, this surface will naturally develop an aged, antique patina.
    • Interior Chamber: The complex cut surfaces created by the hollow sections produce fascinating light-and-shadow effects under illumination, while the deep, shadowy recesses inside are a favorite retreat for shy fish and shrimp.
  4. Excellent Water Flow Buffer: The rounded, curved outer shell effectively guides water flow around the main structure, while the spiral interior creates subtle eddy currents and dead zones. This dynamic interplay of still and moving water makes the environment ideal for benthic organisms that prefer to forage in hidden currents.

Technical Specifications:

  • Suggested Dimensions: The overall shape is a flattened spiral, with a maximum diameter of about 6–9 cm and a thickness of about 3–5 cm (exact dimensions depend on printing settings). Its compact and refined size makes it perfect as a foreground accent in planted tanks, shrimp tanks, or small fish tanks, or as a central hub for biological activity in the midground.
  • Fish Tank Compatibility: Suitable for a wide range of small to medium-sized ornamental fish and shrimp. It is especially well-suited as a “maze playground” for small shrimp species such as crystal shrimp and Yamato shrimp, and also serves as an excellent shelter for small tetras, guppy fry, as well as algae-eating species like otocinclus and black-shelled shrimp.
  • Materials: We recommend using high-toughness, aquarium-grade PLA or PETG for printing, ensuring the material is completely safe and non-toxic while perfectly capturing the suspended stress points of the spiral structure and its intricate hollow details.

Application Scenarios:

  1. “Shedding Safety Pod” for Shrimp: Newly molted crystal shrimp, whose exoskeleton is extremely fragile, can take refuge in the smallest openings at the very center of the spiral structure. The surrounding walls provide all-around physical protection, significantly increasing survival rates during the molting period.
  2. “Retro Aquascape Core” for Planted Tanks: In a planted tank filled with lush aquatic plants, this aquascape with an ancient fossil aesthetic instantly elevates the thematic depth of the tank. Pairing it with a few mosses or mini dwarf pearl plants tied to its surface can create a magical “underwater archaeological site” atmosphere.
  3. “Hide-and-Seek Paradise” for Small Fish: For schooling small fish like neon tetras and red-tail tetras that enjoy navigating complex environments, this spiral maze is an ideal place to evade larger predators and engage in daily play.
