Target Audience: 3D printing enthusiasts who enjoy game‑themed models, claw‑knife designs, silk‑filament materials, and metallic‑look finishes.

 

This is a 2025 VCT‑style claw knife I’ve created, specifically optimized for silk filament.

 

Initially, I planned to use metallic red filament, but I couldn’t find a shade that truly satisfied me, so I opted for silk red instead. Silk red has relatively high brightness; if printed with standard settings, it can appear overly bright and exhibit a noticeable plastic feel. To address this, I carefully tested and fine‑tuned the print speed and temperature in the file, aiming for a more natural interplay of gloss and subtle shading in the final piece.

 

When applied to flat surfaces, silk filament often produces rather uniform reflections. However, on curved or multi‑faceted structures, or on low‑poly‑styled models, varying angles reveal richer layers of light and shadow, making it easier to achieve a metallic‑like visual effect. This is precisely why I designed both the model and its printing configuration to highlight these characteristics.

  1. Silk‑Filament‑Specific Settings
    The print speed and temperature parameters in the file have been tailored for silk filament; we recommend using the built‑in settings as a starting point.
  2. Low‑Poly, Mirror‑Finish Style
    The blade incorporates numerous facets and linear details, creating dynamic shifts in light and shadow under different lighting conditions and viewing angles—perfect for showcasing silk filament’s glossy qualities.
  3. Modular Printing to Minimize Defects on Large Parts
    The model is designed for modular printing, helping to avoid common issues like warping, layer lines, vibration marks, and cooling cracks that can occur when printing large components. This approach also ensures more consistent surface finishes across individual parts.
  4. Beginner‑Friendly Assembly
    The assembly process is straightforward, requiring only a small amount of glue to secure key joints.
  5. Optional Positioning Guides
    The file includes auxiliary positioning guides, though they are not mandatory. Users can decide whether to employ them based on their printer’s precision and personal assembly preferences.
  6. Versatile Display and Playability
    Once completed, the piece serves as an eye‑catching desktop prop inspired by gaming themes, while also being fun to hold, spin, and use for stress relief.

Note:

The settings in this file were primarily tested using silk filament.

Different brands of silk filament may vary in flow behavior, gloss level, and optimal printing temperatures. We recommend starting with the default settings provided in the file.

If the results differ from your expectations, make minor adjustments according to your specific filament and printer.

Focus mainly on tweaking temperature and speed.

 

Only a small amount of glue is needed during assembly.

The positioning guides are optional; users can choose whether or not to use them depending on their circumstances.
