【Functional Design: Rotating the Circular Disc—A “Shake-and-Unlock” Ritual for the Date】
Inspired by childhood memories of the traditional “rocking horse” toy, combined with elements of the Year of the Horse zodiac, this design features a central functional element: a circular disc housed in the horse’s belly that can be gently rotated with your fingertips to reveal the date. The current example displays “JAN 23 FRI” (January 23, Friday), with clear, easy-to-read typography and a thoughtful mix of English abbreviations and numerals that balances practicality with aesthetic appeal.
This hands-on, interactive approach transforms calendar viewing from passive reading into an engaging, participatory experience.
【3D Printing Brings Childlike Playfulness to Life】
Structural Optimization: The rocking horse’s curved base and body are printed as a single, integrated part to ensure stability during rocking; the circular disc is mounted on the “body base” to guarantee smooth, jam-free rotation;
Detailed Rendering (Printing Settings): In the image, the horse’s black body is printed in Elise Shimmer Black; the red mane and base are in Elise Shimmer Red; the golden disc is rendered in Elise Metal Series Copper (875C). The entire calendar assembly employs a pin-and-slot design; however, due to potential printing quality variations across different printer models, the pin joints may require light sanding or additional adhesive to ensure secure assembly.
