Support structure

Hello everyone, I’m the creator of this smartwatch wireless charging dock! My original intention behind designing it was to provide a sleek, aesthetically pleasing charging “home” for smartwatches—while also offering a clever way to hide and organize cables.
Design Philosophy & Ingenious Details:
- Sleek Minimalism Meets Functional Excellence: The overall design features a streamlined L‑shaped support structure. The base is square and stable, with a vertical post that seamlessly connects to the watch cradle—clean, crisp lines that complement most minimalist desktop setups. The cradle itself is carefully engineered with precise slots and support points, ensuring that when you place your watch on top, the watch face sits perfectly secure and aligned with the charging coil (whether you’re using an Apple Watch, a Samsung Galaxy Watch, or a stylish model like the CK shown here—you’ll find the ideal angle to keep your device snugly in place).
- Cable Management Made Seamless: Inside the base, I’ve incorporated dedicated cable routing channels! You can thread the charger cable through the bottom or back of the dock, running it along the vertical post or through the internal cavity before exiting at the top of the post—or just near the watch cradle—to connect to the charging adapter. This keeps your desk free from cluttered, unsightly wires, delivering a remarkably tidy and polished look.
- Customization Through 3D Printing: I used FDM printing technology, opting for PLA—a sustainable material that’s easy to color and can even be finished with a custom paint job to enhance its texture. During slicing, I fine‑tuned both layer height and infill density to ensure the dock provides solid, reliable support—so even when the weight of the watch and charger is applied, the base remains steadfast and secure. At the same time, I made subtle adjustments to the cradle’s curvature and support points, allowing watches with varying strap thicknesses—especially those fitted with metal bracelets—to sit comfortably without slipping off.
Small Surprises in Everyday Use:
Simply place the dock on your desk, pop your smartwatch onto the cradle, and watch it start charging—cables neatly tucked away, enhancing the overall aesthetic of your workspace. And because it’s 3D printed, you can easily modify the model file to suit your specific watch dimensions and personal desktop style—for example, adjusting the base size, post height, or cradle shape—customizing a version that perfectly matches your needs.
As I worked on this little project, I not only enjoyed the process of blending charging functionality, cable management, and elegant design into one cohesive solution—but I also hoped it would help address the common frustration of “messy smartwatch charging cables,” bringing a touch of harmony between tech products and everyday desktop life.
