About this model:
This is a personal tribute to the Gobblers / Gobblet Jr game that I love to play with my kids.
My gobblets are a nice size (much bigger than the commercially availlable versions), and I also designed a nice box that don't take too much place, and can be taken out anywhere you want… to play on the corner of a table, on a picnic blanket, or on the beach (then, PLA may not be the most temperature resistant choice).
You can scan the QR code on top of the box to watch video rules for Gobblers / Gobblet Jr (many languages availlable).
Printing advice:
I designed the QR code with maximum redundancy to decrease risk that the QR code is not recognized.
However, printing the QR code surface in another color can greatly increase chances for the QR code to be recognized. Paint, varnish or marker can also be applied on the QR if you have trouble reading mono-colored QR codes. Note that partly masking incoming light with our hand helped a lot during testing (As you may have guessed… it was long and frustrating testing until I reach a satisfying solution).
Even if I don't have multi-color, I released a dual-color profile to help QR interpretation with high-contrast. Just remove the extra color if, like me, you cannot do multicolor.
In all cases, I advise you to do a plate leveling just before printing the QR code to ensure maximum readability. I also have the impression that printing with textured plate creates a lot of light reflection, which sometimes prevents QR reading.
About the game:
Gobblers / Gobblet Jr is a variation of the Tic-Tac-Toe game, developped in 2003 by Thierry Denoual. It is an incredible tactical game, which can be played both casually or with much more depth.
It is like Tic-Tac-Toe, but on steroïds!
If you like Tic-Tac-Toe, you will LOVE this game. It is targeting any type of public, from children & occasional players to seasoned gamers.
It is ideal to play with your kids, through quick 1vs1 games, with tension, and frequent reversal of fortunes… leading the loser to always ask for a re-match.
