Tiananmen Park in Beijing – Hall of Prayer for Good Harvest
The Hall of Prayer for Good Harvest is the centerpiece of Tiananmen Park in Beijing, holding profound historical and cultural significance as the site where emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties conducted the grand Ritual of Praying for a Bountiful Harvest. Construction began in the 18th year of the Yongle era of the Ming Dynasty (1420), but on September 18, 1889—the 15th year of the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty—it was tragically destroyed by lightning. The hall was subsequently rebuilt the following year and completed in 1896. From October 1970 to September 1971, the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvest was meticulously reconstructed according to its original design prior to the fire.
Design Notes: To better suit the intended print size and lighting setup, I scaled down the model’s overall dimensions while refining the intricate details of the roof tiles, rafters, and purlins. Given the practical constraints of printing, I opted to omit the ornate plaques. Additionally, I adjusted the wall and window designs to ensure structural integrity and optimal print quality, while also reducing print time. By employing a stepped-up volumetric approach, I simulated the gradual elevation of the dougong brackets, adding greater structural detail. The base platform was thinned to minimize material usage and shorten print time, while also being perfectly tailored to accommodate the TopoZhu 001# lighting system—both the cable routing channels at the bottom and the dedicated slots for the light fixture itself were precisely dimensioned for seamless integration.
Assembly Instructions: Refer to the detailed assembly breakdown diagram for guidance. This model requires glue only at three specific joints—where the three-tiered roof is bonded to the rafters—while all other structural components are joined using traditional mortise-and-tenon techniques. Simply assemble the model in sequential order, following the designated axes.
Multi‑Color Material Recommendations: For personal preference, I suggest using silk blue for the roof tiles, white or stone‑toned hues for the base platform, and wood tones for the remaining elements.
