Design Concept

This project faithfully recreates the seaside single‑family home where the Sakamoto family resides in Hayao Miyazaki’s animated film “Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea.” Leveraging advanced 3D printing technology with meticulous part‑by‑part fabrication, the model brings to life the warm, heartwarming coastal setting from the film, evoking cherished memories of its pure, tender atmosphere.

Form and Structure

- Main Building: A two‑story structure featuring a pitched roof, complete with red-tiled roofing and warm‑yellow wooden siding—meticulously replicating the color palette and proportional relationships seen in the original animation. The first floor includes an entrance porch, floor‑to‑ceiling windows, and a storage room; the second floor boasts a scenic balcony and curved windows, with every detail perfectly aligned with the original design.
- Courtyard Scene: The layout encompasses a walled courtyard enclosed by wooden fencing, a cobblestone pathway, a carport, and a miniature pink vehicle—paired with seaside‑inspired trees, natural stone accents, and lifelike micro‑landscapes to recreate the everyday, ocean‑front setting depicted in the film.

The entire model is assembled using multi‑color components and bonded with adhesive.

Assembly is relatively straightforward, though many of the parts are quite small and require careful handling.

In the future, once multi‑color 3D printers become more widely available, we plan to offer a fully integrated, multi‑color version of this model.
