Origin of the project

Here is the result of my first big project.

My youngest kid asked me for last halloween a Mandolorian Jetpack.

I looked what was availlable, and saw the nice Mandolorian Cosplay set put together by MoeSizzlac.

This is top notch, very complete… but required a bit too much of work and post-printing activities for a kid's disguise.

It was also too big to fit on my own printing plates.

Finally, while I liked the general design, it was designed to be painted.

And I only own a one-color 3d printer. And I wanted to be able to personalize my Mandolorian Jetpack,

mainly in term of color (through the filament I print the parts with), but also why not in term of design.

Key model features:

First, I added two sturdy loops which can be used to hold the jetpack to your back,

as the original model did not propose any way to wear it.

I then decided to make my Mandolorian Jetpack completly modular, so that only parts of the design need be reprinted,

while other parts can be reused to feature a different mandolorian jetpack.

In that spirit, I tried to create a design where the pieces fit more or less tightly with each other

so that they can be assembled and disassembled easily.

I recommend to use one or two points of hot glue to secure the pieces together.

In a way, this design is a sandox for you to remix the individual parts, to customize your own mandolorian jetpack.

I, for instance, propose you in the print profile two different top cones.

It is now up for you to design & share your own parts remixes

Printing considerations:

I tried to minimized support material in the way I split the jetpack in different pieces.

I also tried to optimize the supports by painting supports where I judge it important.

I didn't want to spend too much filament in supports to get super nice looking straping buckles, as those are not seen.

But feel free to add some supports there if that important for you.

That's how they look when printing the 3mf file as such:
