Design Inspiration: The design of this openwork basket draws inspiration from the traditional Chinese art of knotting, which symbolizes good fortune, peace, and beauty. I have translated the intricate knotting patterns into a three-dimensional, perforated structure, blending cultural depth with practical functionality.

Model Details: This is a spherical container composed of two precisely interlocking parts: a base and a lid. The top of the lid features a dense button-knot texture, while the sides showcase continuous, interwoven patterns that create striking light-and-shadow effects. It is printed in matte gray material (as shown), delivering a sophisticated, sculptural finish.

Practical Uses: Ideal for storing and displaying small items such as jewelry (rings, earrings), coins, memory cards, paper clips, and more. It can be placed on a desk, dressing table, or display cabinet as an elegant decorative piece.

Printing Recommendations (Please Read Carefully): To perfectly capture the intricate knotting details, we recommend the following:

  • Printer Type: Either FDM or resin-based (SLA/DLP) printers are suitable; resin printing delivers finer results.
  • Materials: We recommend using PLA+ or resin.
  • Layer Height: This is critical. Use a very fine layer height: 0.12–0.16 mm for FDM, and 0.05 mm for resin.
  • Orientation: Print each part vertically, one at a time.
  • Supports: A small amount of internal supports may be needed to maintain the geometry of the openwork pattern, especially on the lid.
  • Post-Processing: The fit between the two parts is intentionally tight. If they feel too snug after printing, lightly sand the mating surfaces. Alternatively, you can reduce the overall size of the lid by 0.5%–1% during printing to achieve a looser fit.

We welcome you to print this design and share your creations! If you like it, please give it a thumbs-up and save it to your favorites.
