TightVac TV2 Replacement Cap (Upgraded Design)

If you use a TightVac TV2, you probably know that over time, the original cap tends to crack and lose its original airtight seal. I designed this replacement model specifically for repair purposes so you don't have to throw away a perfectly good container.

While reverse-engineering the cap, I took the opportunity to improve upon the original design: I slightly increased the spacing between the valve and the bottom of the cap. This modification helps limit residue buildup and prevents the valve from clogging as quickly as the stock version.

Hardware Required

Please note that this is the printed plastic shell only. To assemble it, you will need to salvage the original hardware from your broken cap:

-The original push button

-The metal spring

-The rubber valve

Scaling & Fitment Advice

Tolerances for airtight containers need to be tight. On my printed version, I kept the scale at 100% and used a Dremel to slightly sand the inner diameter for a perfect, custom fit.

If you prefer to avoid post-processing, I recommend scaling the STL to slightly over 100% (e.g., 100.5% to 101%, depending on your printer's dimensional accuracy and material shrinkage) to optimize the base fit right off the build plate.

Recommended Print Settings

To achieve an airtight and durable part, I highly recommend following these slicer settings:

Material: PETG (Recommended for durability and slight flexibility)

Infill: 100% (Crucial for strength and airtightness)

Supports: Yes (Required for the internal mechanism overhangs)

Seam Location: Random

Scarf Joint Seam: Activated (Highly recommended to avoid a visible seam bump that could compromise the airtight seal)

Bottom Surface Pattern: Concentric / Circular

Internal Solid Infill Pattern: Spiral

Happy printing, and enjoy your repaired TightVac!
