Aura Lamp
Introducing the "Aura Lamp," a 3D printable table lamp designed for simple, cozy, and modern illumination. Its super minimal design features clean lines, and the lamp is operated by an external touch-sensitive light module (details below) for easy power on/off, keeping the lamp's own form pristine and switch-free.
Design & Aesthetics
The Aura Lamp embodies minimalism. As seen in the photos, its sleek profile consists of a stable circular base, a slim vertical stem, and a distinct disc-like shade that casts a gentle downward ambient light. This uncomplicated form allows it to blend seamlessly into various interior styles, providing warm and comforting illumination.
Key Features
- Super Minimalist Design: Clean lines and simple geometric forms.
- Cozy Ambient Lighting: Creates a warm and inviting atmosphere.
- Touch Power On/Off: Via a recommended, all-in-one light module (requires modification).
- Clean Aesthetic: No visible switches on the lamp body itself.
- 3D Printable Components: Lamp Base, Stem, Shade, and Securing Cap.
Required Hardware & Tools
- Light Module (with integrated LED & Touch Power): This lamp is designed for a specific light module which includes the LED source and touch controls. You will need to source this module separately AND MODIFY IT as described in the Assembly section. Link to recommended Light Module: HERE
- Power Supply: The recommended light module is powered by USB-C (5V 2A). A compatible cable is typically provided with the module, but you may need your own USB power adapter (standard phone charger type).
- Drill with an 8mm drill bit.
- Glue (optional): May be needed for securing the 3D printed cap.
Printing Recommendations
- Material: PLA or PETG recommended (Matte filaments enhance the minimalist look).
- Nozzle: 0.4mm
- Layer Height: 0.2mm
- Infill: 15-20% (Consider slightly higher for the base if extra stability is desired).
- Supports: Not Needed.
- Parts: Lamp Base, Stem, Shade, Cap.
Assembly Notes & Modification Warning:
IMPORTANT: This project requires careful modification of the purchased light module. This involves drilling. Proceed with caution, at your own risk, and ensure the module is UNPLUGGED from any power source before attempting any modification.
Eye protection is recommended.
1. Print Aura Lamp Components: Print the Lamp Base, Stem, Shade, and Cap.
2. Modify Purchased Light Module:
a. Carefully open the housing of your purchased light module.
b. Identify the module's internal "shader" or diffuser (the part that spreads the light).
c. Precisely and carefully drill an 8mm hole in the center of this module's shader/diffuser.
3. Assemble 3D Printed Lamp Structure:
a. Place your 3D printed Aura Lamp Shade onto the 3D printed Stem.
b. Secure the Aura Lamp Shade to the Stem using the 3D printed Cap. A small amount of glue can be applied to the cap for a more permanent fit if desired.
4. Integrate Modified Light Module:
a. Carefully insert the (now modified) purchased light module into your assembled Aura Lamp Shade/Stem (this is the "printed housing"). Align any holes or features of the module with the corresponding features in your 3D printed housing as intended by the design.
b. Ensure any wiring from the module is routed correctly.
c. Securely close the purchased light module's housing again.
5. Final Assembly:
a. Attach the Stem (now containing the shade and light module) to the Lamp Base.
b. Connect the USB-C power supply to the light module.
