Info:

Based on the latest version (1.0.0) of the great Bear Extruder by Greg. The X carriage is derived from original Bear MK2.5S carriage but will absolutely work on a MK3, provided you use the Bear X-axis. The tensioning knob can be used on the Titan and has enough clearance with the lead screw on the right.

Long story short why this remix came to be - bought about 20 kg of various (petg, pla, flex, wood, pc-abs) 2.85 mm filament for close to nothing as part of stock liquidation and needed a way to use it. The design was aimed to accommodate that primarily.

Prerequisites:

A E3D groove mount adapter (also, PTFE couplers with colette clips for 1.75mm filament!) is required as that enables the vertical space, allowing for the radial fan to fit upright between the motor and the nozzle. See section analysis picture for details on how that fits together.

You will need 1x M3 30 mm screw (the original fixings will do) to secure the Titan lid to the motor initially and 3x M3 40 mm screws to sandwich the body between the motor spacer and the back carriage.

2.85mm Filament:

As there's no 2.85mm adapter that sits flush with the Titan body that E3D supplies, I've sketched one and included here. I had it printed in ABS-like resin, so the tolerances are very tight and might not work when printed with an FDM machine.

If you are like me, the length of the PTFE (OD 6.2mm/ ID 3.1mm) piece that needs to go from the groove mount and butt up against the V6 direct drive heatsink is 6.35 mm. I suggest to taper the end that sits against the heatsink with a pencil sharpener :)

Misc:

The dimensions are for a genuine E3D Titan, I have included the step files in case someone is willing to do up a version for the clones.

The Titan and the motor sub-assembly can be taken off by undoing the 3 long screws at the back, while the original Bear design allows for just 2 bolt easy access to the hotend sub-assembly. So the entire thing is relatively easy to service!
