A remix of Monkey 540’s revolver model, reworked and cleaned up for a better overall fit and finish.

Big thanks to Monkey 540 for the original design and for putting together the base model this remix was built from. I just came along afterwards and gave it a few upgrades, which feels very on-brand for something inspired by Jayne Cobb.

This one is inspired by Jayne Cobb’s revolver, Boo, from Firefly. Not as famous as Vera maybe, but still exactly the sort of sidearm you’d expect from the Hero of Canton.

For this remix, I wanted to improve some of the assembly and part separation while refining a few areas that I felt could fit together better.

Changes made in this remix:

• Remixed the grip

• Added a new grip insert

• Separated the screw head detail into its own part for a cleaner finish

• Completely remade the cylinder

• Added alignment pins in the grip frame

• Adjusted a few other areas for better fitment and easier assembly

The extra part separation should also make painting easier, whether you want a clean display piece or something that looks like it has spent a few jobs riding around the 'verse.

 Assembly

1. Glue the frame halves together
   Start by gluing the two frame halves together using the 3 alignment pins to help line everything up.

2. Assemble the cylinder and grip section
   Glue the chamber cylinder to the grip. Keep the seam facing down toward the frame so it stays hidden once assembled.

3. Install the cylinder middle tube
   Insert the cylinder middle tube into the assembly. It should slide all the way into the frame.

4. Glue on the Under Barrel Back
   Attach the Under Barrel Back piece to the front of the cylinder.

5. Assemble the upper barrel
   Glue the Barrel Rail to the Barrel first.
   Then glue the completed barrel/barrel rail assembly to the Under Barrel and Cylinder area.
   The small part that sticks off the barrel and holds the ejector rod should face toward the front.

6. Assemble the lower barrel section
   Glue the Lower Barrel to the Lower Curve piece. One end is keyed, so it should only fit one way.
   Once assembled, glue this section under the barrel and onto the Under Barrel Back piece.

7. Assemble the grip insert
   Glue a screw head into the grip insert, then glue the completed insert into the grips.

8. Install the hammer
   Glue the hammer into place.

9. Assemble and install the loader rod
   Assemble the loader rod, slider, and pin. Follow the photos for the correct position.
   Once aligned, glue the assembly onto the main revolver. I added a few drops of glue onto the loader rod barrel support, then placed the rod onto that.
