A compact and fully printable counter designed for tabletop and board games. Ideal for tracking scores, turns, resources or other in-game values. 
This is the single digit version (0-9), also check out my two digit (00-99) mechanical counter!

Before printing

Due to the compact size, the parts have tight (0.1mm) clearances. 

Please use a tolerance test to ensure that your printer is calibrated well enough for this level of precision.

Filament type

Most materials should work great for this model. 

Avoid any abrasive filaments (like matte, glow in the dark or fibre/metal filled) as these will wear down the counter unreasonably fast. 

Printing instructions

Using the included 3MF files is recommended. The files are set up with all settings applied to the models so you can safely switch to your own printer/filament settings without losing any settings. 

When using a multicolour version, make sure to include at least two filaments in your filament selection. 

• Print all parts in the provided orientation
• Supports: none
• Brim: none
• Layer height: 0.2mm (0.1mm is also supported, other layer heights including adaptive are not)
• Line width: 0.4mm (0.2mm is also supported)
• Wall order: Outer-Inner
• Only one wall on top surfaces: disabled
• (optional) Top surface flow ratio: 0.97-1.00 (No top surfaces will be visible once assembled, slightly under extruding the top surfaces can result in smoother motion). 

Post-processing and assembly

• Make sure that these seams on the back and number wheel are relatively smooth. Remove any bumps with a small file or sandpaper. Other seams in the model do not need any post-processing. 
   

  

• Add the number wheel to the back and take note of this notch in the back piece

  

   

• Add the front piece, the opening should align with the notch in the back piece. It won't fit in the wrong orientation.

  

• Rotate the front piece clockwise to lock it in place. This is the easiest by holding the counter between your palms. 

  

The counter is now fully assembled and should be functional. 

Note that movement can feel rough at first, this will wear in quickly for a smoother motion and more snappy tactile feedback. 

During this wear in period the counter may end up feeling gummy or hard to turn. If this happens, simply open the counter and wipe off any plastic dust from the number wheel and back piece.
