This model is versatile and designed specifically for low-heat lighting sources, making it perfect for two popular options:
- USB LED Puck Light: For a clean, consistent, and bright central glow.
- LED Fairy Lights: For a softer, diffused "glimmer" effect that highlights the depth of the interwoven pattern.
⚠️ Critical Material Note: PETG Required
To ensure safety and longevity, this model must be printed with a heat-resistant filament.
- DO NOT use PLA: The dense, lattice-style fins can trap heat from the light source. PLA has a low heat deflection temperature and is highly likely to warp or sag during use.
- Use PETG or ASA: For a reliable, long-lasting lamp that maintains its clean geometric structure, you must use PETG, ASA, or a similar higher-temperature material.
Recommended Print Settings
- Filament: PETG (Translucent White, Matte White, or Clear for different effects)
- Layer Height: 0.2mm
- Walls: 1–2 perimeters for strength
- Infill: 10% - 15% (e.g., Gyroid)
- Supports: None. This model is designed to be support-free!
- Brim: Highly recommended (5-10mm) to ensure good bed adhesion for the small surface area of the individual fins.
- Can be reduced to 70% scale and still use the puck LED
Assembly & Hardware
- Light Source: Standard 60mm (or smaller) USB LED Puck Light OR a strand of LED fairy lights.
- Setup: Thread the power cable through the built-in notch at the base. If using a puck light, press-fit it into the central opening. If using fairy lights, loosely coil them upwards for even light distribution throughout the intricate fin structure.
Tested Design: This lamp has been tested and optimized for tolerances. Ensure your PETG filament is well-dried to minimize stringing and ensure clean lines for the interwoven pattern.
