The Italian Greyhound, along with smaller breeds, was widely cherished across medieval Europe—especially among the nobility—and often kept as a companion dog for leisure and entertainment.

Italian Greyhounds are not naturally inclined to guard or protect their homes; they rarely bark or show aggression toward strangers. They are sensitive to cold and typically lounge lazily in warm, cozy spots. However, as soon as they spot prey—or anything that catches their attention and invites play—they can suddenly burst into action with astonishing speed and agility.
