【Recreating the Royal Authority of the Shang Dynasty’s Queen】The Owl Vessel from Fu Hao’s Tomb – A High-Resolution 3D Printing Model

File Description:

This is more than just a 3D model; it is a window into the civilization of the Shang Dynasty. We are offering you a high-precision 3D-printed replica of the renowned bronze artifact—the “Fu Hao Owl Vessel”—unearthed from Fu Hao’s tomb at the Yinxu site in Anyang, Henan Province, dating to the late Shang period (circa the 13th century BCE).

Historical Background:

Fu Hao was not only the consort of King Wuding of the Shang Dynasty but also a courageous female general. This owl vessel is not merely an exquisite wine container; it is a symbol of her power and status. In the Shang era, the owl—known as xiāo, or “catbird”—was regarded as a sacred bird, embodying war and authority.

Model Features:

  • Highly Accurate Reproduction: The model faithfully captures the imposing form of the owl vessel.
  • Crisp Detailing: The massive feather crest on the head, the wide-open eyes, the prominent beak, and the rear handle are all rendered with exceptional clarity.
  • Elaborate Decorative Patterns: The body is adorned with typical Shang motifs such as animal-face patterns and kui patterns, with the layered texture of these designs preserved to the extent possible during printing.
  • Sturdy Base Design: The tightly folded wings and drooping tail create a robust base, ensuring the vessel stands securely.

Printing Tips:

  • Material: We strongly recommend using resin for printing to perfectly capture the fine surface details. If using PLA, opt for high-quality filament.
  • Layer Height: We suggest using 0.12 mm or less; for resin printing, set the layer height to 0.05 mm or less.
  • Supports: Supports must be enabled. Pay particular attention to areas beneath the feather crest on the head, under the beak, and on the inner side of the handle.
  • Painting: After printing, you can apply gold or bronze acrylic paint and then age the surface for an antique finish.

Usage Scenarios:

  • Historical Collection: Display on a desk or shelf to experience the allure of Shang civilization.
  • Artistic Study: Use for researching the forms and decorative patterns of Shang bronze vessels.
  • Unique Gift: Ideal as a gift for history enthusiasts.
