Modular 2-in-1 Utility Knife with TPU Handle & Blade Storage

Introducing a new utility knife model designed with a focus on functionality, safety, and customization. The main feature of this project is its modular system. You get two fully functional tools in one: an ultra-compact everyday carry (EDC) box cutter and a comfortable, full-sized utility knife for heavy-duty tasks.

• Two Modes of Use: The inner module is a standalone, slim, and lightweight knife perfect for opening packages or carrying on a lanyard. For more demanding tasks, simply slide it into the robust outer handle.
   
• Ergonomic TPU Body: The outer handle is designed to be printed with flexible filament (TPU). This provides an excellent grip, shock absorption under pressure, and a secure friction-fit for the inner module.
   

• Smart Storage: Hidden in the back of the TPU handle is a convenient storage compartment for spare standard utility blades. It securely closes with a dedicated end cap.
   

  

• Reliable Locking Mechanism: The blade carriage features a built-in locking button that firmly secures the blade in both the working and safe (retracted) positions.
   

• Easy Assembly: The compact inner knife consists of just 3 printed parts (main body, carriage, locking button) and features intuitive, tool-less, and glue-less assembly.
   

  

⚙ Recommended Print Settings:

• Inner Knife (Main body, carriage, lock button):
  • Material: PETG, ABS, ASA, or tough PLA (rigidity is required for the mechanism to work reliably).
  • Infill: 15-20% (for maximum strength of the mechanism).
• Outer Handle:
  • Material: TPU (Flex) is highly recommended to ensure the necessary flexibility, comfortable grip, and a snug fit for the inner module.
• Back Cap (Storage plug): * Can be printed from rigid plastic (PETG/PLA) or TPU, depending on your preference for a tight seal.
• Supports: Minimal supports are recommended for overhangs.
