Every time I let my feline friend play with a catnip wand, I’d find that the wand—round and short—would either slip right off its paws and tumble onto the sofa or slide under the bed, or if I tried to hold it in its tiny hands, the short length made it easy for those little claws to grab hold (especially when my cat gets completely absorbed in the moment!). To solve this problem, I designed a simple rod-shaped clamp that securely holds and extends the catnip wand, allowing my furry companion to play with it in style—and with far less frustration for both of us.
Owner: “Oh my gosh, I’m absolutely smitten! Jojo!” (tapping their temple)
The clamp is designed to securely grip cylindrical objects with diameters ranging from 8 to 16 mm—roughly the size of a standard pencil or marker. I’ve created both a shorter and a longer handle version to suit different preferences.

- I originally wanted to carve out a honeycomb pattern on the handle, but I wasn’t keen on adding solid geometry—so I opted for a more efficient slicing approach instead: simply removing the top layer, eliminating the bottom layer, and applying an 8% honeycomb infill. It’s a bit of a shortcut that saves time and energy (and honestly, creating solid honeycomb structures on the model would actually increase the number of walls, extend print time, and boost strength—but since this particular design doesn’t need that level of detail, I figured it was better to take the easy route and just go with this method to achieve the desired look.
- Since I only needed to create a honeycomb pattern in the middle of the handle, I used modifiers to mask the head area, preventing the threaded sections from being hollowed out. However, there’s still a small amount of excess top and bottom surfaces, along with some internal stringing—though I haven’t yet found a foolproof way to eliminate these imperfections.
