Soviet Yak-44 Anakonda Early Warning Aircraft
In 1979, the Yakovlev Design Bureau was tasked with developing a next‑generation airborne early warning and control system to support the Ulyanovsk‑class nuclear-powered supercarriers. However, following the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991 and the subsequent cancellation of the carrier program, the Russian Navy officially terminated the project in 1993. Only a full‑scale prototype equipped with folding wings was ever completed—no actual flight‑worthy prototypes were ever built.
