Release v1.3
Parts needed:
- ESP NodeMCU 8266 with built in screen
- Moisture Sensor (even though this is a link to a v2.0 Sensor, i have tested it with a multimeter and checked that it works completely as explained in the video below)
- wires, soldering iron, hot glue, etc…
Please watch this video before buying a moisture sensor
Big thanks to Flaura for the information provided in the video.
How to use:
- 3D Print the STL files.
- Upload the provided sketch code to the NodeMCU using Arduino IDE.
Deep Sleep is implemented in the code for saving power. it is currently set to 1 minute. Which means that the NodeMCU will power off after 1 minute of reading. it can be turned back on by reconnecting the power or simply pressing the RST button on the NodeMCU.
If you want to change the duration you can simply edit the code line.
- Solder the wires:
VCC → 3v3
GND → GND
Signal/AUOT → A0
- Place the Moisture Sensor and NodeMCU inside the case.
- Hot glue the NodeMCU to fix it in place and hot glue the gaps of the Moisture Sensor after installing it to prevent soil from entering the housing.
