Computer Cooling Fan – Customized Desktop Fan

Bill of Materials:

1 x 14025 Fan

1 x 5V to 12V Voltage Converter Module

1 x 12V Fan Speed Control Module

5 x M2×4×3 Thermoplastic Nuts

5 x M2×8 Screws (shorter 6mm screws will also work)

1 x Discarded USB Male Data Cable

The default print profile uploaded is for PLA. I used the A1 printer to print stir-fried noodles, then switched to a different CXY machine to print PETG. Before you start printing, it’s always best to review the settings carefully.

I forgot to take photos during installation.

The circuitry for this fan was salvaged from an old DIY fan build, which is why the USB cable is so short. The circuit modules weren’t precisely sized or custom‑fit—5V to 12V was simply secured with double-sided tape, prioritizing functionality over precision.As long as it works, that’s all that matters!

The knob cap is a custom 3D‑printed part with an inner diameter of 7mm—feel free to design your own if you’d like.

First, press the thermoplastic nuts into place.

Insert the 14025 fan from the front side and secure it from behind using the included screws.

Solder the 5V to 12V converter module to the USB cable, plug in the fan to verify proper operation, then neatly route and organize the fan cables.

When routing the USB cable through the housing, tie a small knot inside the cable to prevent the solder joints from being pulled loose.

Blade Installation Guide

There are two linkage rods; first assemble the blades and linkage rods completely on the exterior, then slide them both into the housing—one side at a time. If installation proves challenging, you can use wire cutters to slightly shorten the shafts—and by gently bending the housing slightly, you’ll be able to slip the assembly in with ease.
