In the classic novel “Romance of the Three Kingdoms,” there is a poem that reads: “At Changban Bridge, fierce battle cries echo; with spear in hand and steed at rest, eyes blazing with wrath. A single shout shakes the heavens like thunder—alone, he repels a million soldiers from Cao’s army.”

The design draws inspiration from the Q-version of Zhang Fei as depicted in “Romance of the Three Kingdoms,” seamlessly blending nostalgic childhood memories with meticulously crafted scene elements.

We’ve uploaded two versions: one scaled to 75%, with an overall height of 187.5 mm and Zhang Fei standing at 176 mm tall—perfect for printing on the A1 mini; and another at 100% scale, boasting an overall height of 250 mm and Zhang Fei measuring 235 mm tall.
Both models are printed in separate parts, using a single color per component.
For materials, we recommend: white PLA White, black PLA Black + PETG Black, green accents made from PLA Christmas Green, the face crafted from PLA Wood Black Walnut, the hands, chest, lips, weapon shafts, and bridge structure printed in PLA Wood Light Wood, the armor cast in PETG Metal Bronze, and the spearhead and belt buckle finished in PETG Silk Silver. The filament options listed below are all sourced from Topaz Filaments—but feel free to use alternative filaments that closely match in color and texture, or prepare your own materials as needed.
The original STP file has been uploaded for your convenience.
The model features several movable joints: the headpiece, head, left arm, and both hands—as illustrated in the diagrams below:

This marks my first attempt at designing and printing a fully articulated doll. While I’ve incorporated some movable joints into the build, many components still require adhesive assembly—and there are plenty of areas that could benefit from further refinement. Please bear with me as I work through these early iterations. I’m also planning to tackle characters like Guan Yu in the near future, though let’s be honest: I’m notoriously lazy and prefer a life of comfort and ease. To be perfectly frank, I’m not sure when this project will ever be completed!

Assembly Instructions:
- During my initial test print, I accidentally reversed the orientation of the facial hair and the hair strands—please disregard this minor hiccup and just think of it as Zhang Fei having washed his hair and developed a few pimples. The uploaded files have been corrected to reflect the proper alignment.
- First, press the face into the black hair assembly.
- Next, attach the hair accessories using the H‑shaped connectors.
- Start by installing the eyes, then move on to the eyebrows. Note that one of the eye lenses sits atop the eyebrow, while the other is a small, separate piece—be careful not to confuse it with the three tiny clothing buttons.
- Install the beard, then secure the mouth—once the head assembly is complete.
- For the body assembly, position the belt in advance between the upper and lower torso sections, ensuring the belt buckle fits snugly into its designated groove.
- Utilize the flexibility of the armor to slip it over the body, aligning the mounting points carefully before applying adhesive to secure everything in place. Finally, insert the three buttons into their corresponding buttonholes on the garment.
- When installing the H‑shaped connectors, we recommend using PETG for printing—this material offers excellent rigidity and can be securely clamped with pliers for a tight fit. For added durability, I chose a slightly tighter assembly, aiming for a satisfying, yet smooth articulation.
- Insert the H‑shaped connectors into the body, arms, and neck.
- Once all the connectors are in place, the body assembly is complete.
- Finally, join the head to the body—and you’re done!
- Assemble the weapon, then secure it in place.
- Complete the long, iconic Changban Bridge, bringing the entire model together.
