This gauge allows you to consistently set different bevel angles when honing chisels and plane irons using the 'Eclipse' style honing guide (such as Honeboy sharpening jig). There are two gauges - one for honing plane irons and the other for honing chisels. Use the appropriate gauge to set how far the iron or chisel extends from the guide for the desired honing angle. The guide ensures that the bevel angle is the same each time you sharpen - saving you time and metal.

The notches in the top of the guide match the corresponding bevel angles. Insert the pointy end of your iron/chisel to find the closest fit.
