I originally designed this telescopic rod for its practicality, then expanded the concept by adding a threaded mounting system that allows interchangeable accessories to be attached.

The pole collapses down to just 200 mm in length (excluding accessories), making it easy to carry in a backpack, bag, or toolbox. When fully extended, it reaches 705 mm, providing a significant increase in reach while remaining lightweight and portable.

Magnetic Locking Feature

To prevent accidental opening during transport, the bottom cap can house a magnet that keeps the pole securely closed when collapsed.

If you prefer a simpler assembly, the magnet is entirely optional and the model works perfectly without it.

A dedicated countersunk hole is included beneath the smallest telescopic section, designed to accommodate a countersunk wood screw that serves as the magnetic contact point.

A set of magnet adapter discs is included, allowing the use of common 8 mm, 10 mm, and 12 mm magnets. All adapters feature a 20 mm outer diameter and fit the same magnet housing, making the design compatible with a wide range of readily available magnets.

Endless Customization

The real strength of this design is its modularity.

The pole uses an M9 × 1.25 threaded connection, allowing you to create and attach your own custom accessories. Simply add a matching male thread to your design and screw it onto the pole.

Whether you need a hook, pointer, camera mount, inspection tool, lightweight grabber, or something completely different, you can easily adapt the system to your needs.

NOTE: I added a hole inside the threaded section of the hand to fit a reinforcement pin, 6 mm in diameter and  approximately 22 mm long. I used a wooden dowel pin.

  • Extended: 705 mm (excluding accessory)

Print Settings

Recommended settings:

  • Brim: 10 mm minimum recommended
  • Layer height: 0.20 mm – 0.24 mm
  • For added print stability, use supports at the four support points around the handle, located approximately three-quarters of the way up the grip. Not mandatory if you have a clean build plate, but I prefer to not waste a print.
  • I painted the handle with fuzzy skin in the slicer, for better grip and aesthetics.
  • For better external surface finish, you can try scarf seam.

If you create new accessories or improvements, feel free to share your remixes!
