I originally designed a version of this before I had my printer in hand, only to realize the fitment wasn't quite right. Now that I’m up and running, I’ve completely overhauled the model into a fully functional, tested version that improves clearance under the filament roll.
Why Use This?
If you use a side-mounted "poop chute" or purge bucket, you know that space is a premium. Standard spool positions often limit how large your collection bucket can be.
This mod does two things:
- Raises the spool higher off the frame.
- Shifts the spool forward toward the front of the machine.
The result? Significant extra clearance underneath the spool, allowing you to fit a much larger purge bucket so you can run long, multi-color prints without worrying about overflows.
Print Settings
This model has been tested in PLA+ and is holding up great, though PETG or ABS would also be excellent choices for extra durability.
- Walls: 3
- Infill: 15%
- Supports: Tree Supports recommended
- Support Settings: Set your Top Z Distance to 0.26mm for easy, clean support removal.
