The colossal stone statues—known as Moai—on Easter Island (Rapa Nui) are among the most enigmatic ancient ruins in the world, continuing to captivate archaeologists, historians, and travelers alike with their enduring allure.
These statues hold countless secrets; while we typically only see the portion that rises above ground, much of their lower bodies remain buried beneath the earth—hidden by layers of accumulated soil. Drawing inspiration from this mysterious phenomenon, I created this intriguing, extendable Moai statue, designed to highlight the profound mystique that surrounds these iconic figures.

After five rounds of printing and testing the extension mechanism, this is the final iteration—smoothly extensible, easy to print, and perfectly capturing the design’s intended aesthetic and functional qualities.
