🦕 Apatosaurus – 3D Scan made with the Revopoint MetroY

The Apatosaurus is one of the most iconic sauropod dinosaurs, known for its massive body, long neck, and whip-like tail.
It lived during the Late Jurassic period, around 150 million years ago, and could reach lengths of over 20 meters.
Despite its size, it was a peaceful herbivore, feeding on ferns and soft vegetation in lush floodplains of what is now North America.

⚙️ Scan details:

This model was scanned from one of my kids’ toy dinosaurs as part of my first test series with the Revopoint MetroY.
To capture it properly, I did the scan in two parts:

• 🦶 First scan: the lower half — legs, tail base, and body — to get a stable geometry and clean alignment.
• 🦕 Second scan: the upper half — neck, head, and back — focusing on the long curved shape of the spine and smooth surface transitions.

The two scans were then merged into a single model to form a complete Apatosaurus.
Even with such a long and thin shape, the MetroY handled tracking surprisingly well, keeping detail and proportion accurate throughout the process.
