This is a simple filament clip that attaches the loose end to the adjacent strand and snaps into place.
I saw various filament clips here but was unhappy with the ones that click to the outside edge of the spool holder and found one similar to this one but it didn't click into place well enough. I drew this up from scratch in Fusion360.
