In my possession were some screw bits with dimensions of 28 mm x 4 mm, hence I decided to design and print a pocket tool for these bit. Thanks to their snug fit, they remain securely in place while opening or closing the cap.
The design for this was inspired by the schutz Pocker screwdriver kit. I took on the challenge of creating this design from scratch, using Autodesk Fusion 360 for designing and 3D printing, as part of my learning journey.
For those interested in modifying the design, I have included the .f3d file. Life's too short for one-size-fits-all. 3D printing: because personalized perfection is worth the wait! The captivating lion symbol featured on the cap is from the character Escanor of the seven deadly sins, and I sourced the 3D design from thingiverse (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3493081).
Regarding the .3mf file instructions:
- No supports are required for printing this cap.
- To ensure strength and cleanliness in the top part of the cap, where bridging occurs, I adjusted the bridging angle to 90 degrees.
- To enhance adhesion with the print bed, I added a brim of 5 mm. For the printing process, I opted for Overture PETG filament.
- Layer 480 (72.05 mm) includes a color change pause, allowing you to embed 3 magnet bars (10x5x2 mm) within the cap. Through testing, I found that 3 magnets hold the bit strongly. I recommend using super glue to secure the magnets in place. I introduced a color change at this layer instead of a pause, considering that Prusa printers sometimes face challenges when continuing after a pause (https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/postid/611109/).
- Use super glue to stick the keychain ring part to the bit holder.
Feel free to utilize the provided files and information to experiment and adapt the design to your needs. Happy 3D printing!
