This is a stylised mining‑themed diorama I designed while experimenting with environmental details and mechanical elements. I wanted to blend natural crystal formations with industrial machinery to create a small scene that feels alive without being overly complex to print.
Why I Made It:
I’ve been pushing myself to try new design styles, especially environments and props. This project helped me practice shaping stone textures, adding mechanical features like gears and pipes, and balancing detail with printability.
Printing Notes:
• Prints in one piece
• No supports needed
• Works well in PLA or resin
• Slower outer-wall speeds help keep the stone texture crisp
• If you want the crystals to stand out, try painting or printing them in a translucent filament
Tips:
If you want to add lighting, drill a small hole from the underside of the base up into the crystal cluster. You can then feed a tiny LED through the hole so the crystals glow from within. It’s a simple mod that works surprisingly well and gives the whole scene a magical look.
Personal Note:
I’m still learning and experimenting with new styles, so feedback is always welcome. Hope you enjoy this little mining scene as much as I enjoyed building it.
