Each player has their own color and competes to catch as many fish of that color as possible before the time runs out. After each turn, the caught fish are dropped into the player's igloo for scoring.

The game also includes 5 special golden fish. These can be caught by any player and are worth 3 regular fish, making them highly valuable. However, each player may catch only one golden fish per turn, adding an extra strategic element to the gameplay.
